RWA polls at Mahindra Aura in a month

Gurgaon: Four months after the residents welfare association (RWA) was dissolved in Mahindra Aura in Sector 110A, the district registrar on Tuesday appointed a returning officer to carry out the RWA election in the society.

The move comes after a group of residents met district registrar IS Yadav on Monday and informed him about the problems being faced by them since September due to the absence of an RWA.

The election was earlier scheduled to be held in December 2019, but as the voters’ list did not have the names of 23 residents, the election could not be conducted.

“The RWA election will be held within a month. I have appointed a returning officer to conduct the election. Names of the 23 residents, which were missing from the voters’ list, has also been included. As most of the issues holding up the election have been resolved, we can proceed with the process,” Yadav said.

Ajit Gupta, a resident, said, “About 650 families are living in the society and with no RWA, residents are facing issues with the matters related to the upkeep and maintenance. Now that the district registrar has assured us that the RWA will be constituted soon, we hope the problems being faced by the residents will be resolved.”

In September 2019, nine out of the 11 members of the RWA resigned because of tussle with the residents, as a result the district registrar decided to conduct fresh election within three months. Following this an administrator was appointed to look after the maintenance of the society till the new RWA was set up.
